ASN Registration

What is an Autonomous System Number (ASN)?

An Autonomous System Number (ASN) is a globally unique identifier assigned to networks by a Regional Internet Registry (RIR), such as RIPE NCC. It plays a crucial role in enabling networks to manage their internet traffic efficiently and establish their presence on the global internet.

ASNs are essential for networks looking to:

  • Announce IP Address Space using the BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) to route traffic across the internet.
  • Become Multihomed, ensuring greater network reliability and redundancy by connecting to multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
  • Implement Traffic Engineering to control and optimize data routing for better performance and cost efficiency.

To apply for an ASN, organizations must be sponsored by a Local Internet Registry (LIR). At ORCA, we specialize in guiding you through the ASN application process, ensuring smooth interactions with RIPE NCC and compliance with all requirements.

In addition to ASN sponsorship, ORCA offers IP Address Leasing Services to networks that do not currently own their own IP address space. This allows businesses to access the resources they need to scale and grow without delays.

At ORCA, we’re committed to providing comprehensive network solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of your organization. Whether you’re looking to secure an ASN or lease IP address space, our team is here to support you every step of the way.
